During Lineapelle London, on July 9, 2019 at 12 a.m. in the HAM YARD THEATRE, the Genuine Italian Vegetable Tanned Leather Consortium will present the seminar
“Inherent Vice & the Virtuous Cluster:
the case of Tuscan Veg Tan Leather”
How a by-product destined for landfill is transformed into a strong, durable, (and ultimately biodegradable) material of value, through a process that generates organic fertilizers and returns purified water to the agricultural patrimony of the territory.
Plus: the role of Design as the gatekeeper of Values
Diane Ellen Becker, creative director of the Consortium’s Craft the Leather workshops and their international network of design institutes will curate the presentation. Her point of view, developed over a career as designer, trend forecaster and educator, considers the challenges to the sustainability of heritage craft in today’s marketplace.
